The hype was real, but so was the reality check. As Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes offered a first glimpse inside their upcoming steakhouse, 1587 Prime, excitement quickly gave way to concern.
Footage from the walkthrough raised eyebrows, revealing a restaurant still very much under construction, and the clock is ticking. With a late-summer opening planned, just in time for the NFL season kickoff, the space looked far from ready. Exposed wood paneling, two incomplete kitchens, and missing fixtures painted a picture of a project racing the calendar.
Located inside the upscale Loews Hotel in downtown Kansas City’s Power & Light District, the two-level restaurant promises luxury and spectacle, think tunnel entrance inspired by Arrowhead Stadium, a giant wine fridge, and a VIP room with a two-way mirror. But all of that only works if it’s finished in time.
Kelce and Mahomes teamed up with global hospitality group Noble 33 to bring the concept to life. The group also owns hotspots like Meduza Mediterrania in New York’s Meatpacking District, where the duo dined with Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes after the U.S. Open Final last year. Despite that experience, delays appear to be threatening this Kansas City venture.
As NFL training camp begins next month, Mahomes and Kelce will focus on the Chiefs, leaving construction duties to Noble 33. DailyMail.com reached out to the company for an update, but so far, no comment.
A completed menu hasn’t been released, and the restaurant’s official site remains sparse. Still, guests can expect classic steakhouse fare, porterhouse, strip, filet, and a “stadium experience” design aimed squarely at Chiefs fans. The bar will show only Chiefs games, a nod to its celebrity owners.
Despite the current state of the interior, the plans remain ambitious: three dining areas, an open-air kitchen upstairs, and valet access directly into a private steak-and-wine sanctuary for VIPs like Swift.
For now, though, fans may want to hold their reservations. With opening day looming and construction work still visible, 1587 Prime has more than a few yards left to gain before it’s ready for kickoff.
