Shilo Sanders made his NFL debut for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the first week of the preseason against the Tennessee Titans. The son of Deion Sanders spent a lot of time in the backfield and finished with one solo tackle.
However, it was actually his behavior that really stood out!
Not only did Sanders prove to be a fan favorite, he took the time to interact with the crowd at every opportunity. No player on the field was more present to the fanbase during pregame or postgame.
Sanders did not hear his name called during the NFL Draft. The former South Carolina, Jackson State and Colorado safety ultimately fired his dad as his agent and signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent on a rookie contract worth $2.965 million over three years.
His standing on the NFL roster is currently unclear.
Tampa Bay currently lists Antoine Winfield Jr., Tykee Smith, Christian Izien and Kaevon Merriweather on its depth chart at the safety position. Shilo Sanders will need to beat out J.J. Roberts and Rashad Wisdom if he is going to make the active roster, and/or play on special teams.
He made a strong case for himself against the Tennessee Titans!
The self-proclaimed CEO of the ‘Headache Gang’ made his presence felt. Literally.
Head coach Todd Bowles gave Sanders his flowers after the game so he was all smiles.
