Football fans are praising Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders for an incredibly heartwarming gesture to help residents in a local area.
Per Anna Meyer of WKYC, Sanders held a four-hour fundraising event on Wednesday to help residents affected by a fire and explosion at the Rainbow Terrace Apartments last month. 44 units were destroyed in the fire, displacing more than 100 residents.
Sanders called the event the “Garden Valley Fun Fest” and hosted it from 4 to 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday. The fundraiser was open to the public and included music and food.
ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi shared videos of a happy and ecstatic Shedeur Sanders at the Garden Valley Fun Fest on X/Twitter. Oyefusi noted that food trucks and free haircuts were among the services offered at the event:

“Anyone else find it extremely ironic that the one guy we were told definitely had character issues is the one guy showing himself not only to be a model citizen, but way above and beyond that?” asked a fan.

Shedeur Sanders was expected to be an early first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But in an all-time stunner, the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders fell to the Cleveland Browns in round five at No. 144 overall.
There were reports about Sanders performing poorly in pre-draft interviews, with some teams expressing concerns about his character. But obviously, Sanders’ kind act dispels that notion.
