Shannon Sharpe’s lawsuit took a surprising turn after the former NFL star attended court this week.

Sharpe, who has been away from ESPN amid the sexual assault allegations, had his first appearance in court on Wednesday and was perhaps surprised to learn that he was the only one there with a lawyer.

The Hall of Famer showed up with attorney Robert DeMarco. However, according to KLAS, the plaintiff, Gabriel Zuniga, was without her legal counsel, prompting Clark County District Court Judge Anna Albertson to express “Disappointment.”

Zuniga is represented by Tony Buzbee, the celebrity attorney who has taken the likes of Deshaun Watson, P Diddy, and Jay-Z to task. At least that’s believed to be the case, as we’re not sure what’s going on with that now, given his no-show on Wednesday.

Did Shannon Sharpe Score An Early Win?

Recent reports revealed that Buzbee just had a lawsuit filed by Jay-Z thrown out, while he was active on social media this week. That he would not show up for a client suing a former NFL player and media star for $50 million is indeed bizarre.

Meanwhile, Sharpe’s lawyer requested a 45-day extension, asking the judge to review the case’s progress.

The former FS1 analyst has denied all allegations made against him. Shortly after he was sued, he took to social media to suggest that the whole thing was a money grab orchestrated by Buzbee.

Even so, he admitted that he had previously tried to settle for $10 million before the lawsuit was filed, leading many to suspect that he may have something to hide.

That Buzbee failed to show for the possible stare-down could be considered an early win for Shannon, but time will tell.
