Shannon Sharpe took a break from ESPN amid his sexual assault lawsuit and has been quiet about it ever since.

Sharpe’s legal team has not filed a response to the sexual assault lawsuit filed earlier this year. This comes within 24 hours before the case is due to be heard in court.

NBC Sports’ Mike Florio, a former attorney, said a response is due within 30 days after service in most jurisdictions. Florio noted that extensions are commonly granted as a courtesy by lawyers.

A hearing on three different motions to associate counsel is set for July 9 in a Clark County, Nevada, civil court.

Sharpe’s attorney, Lanny Davis, said a countersuit would be filed just two days after the lawsuit was announced. At this time, that suit has not come to fruition.

Shannon Sharpe was accused of committing assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery against an unidentified woman in a $50 million lawsuit filed on April 20.

What is Shannon Sharpe Accused of Doing?

56-year-old Shannon Sharpe was accused of sexual assault in a $50 million lawsuit by a woman he used to date.

The 22-year-old woman, who filed as “Jane Doe,” has since been identified as OnlyFans model Gabriella “Gabbi” Zuniga.

Zuniga accused him of being “manipulating and controlling” and even “repeatedly threatening to brutally choke and violently slap” her.

The woman allegedly confronted him in a text exchange in 2025.

The woman texted Shannon Sharpe that “no means no” and that she didn’t know “how to process” the situation that allegedly went on between them.

“But I cried when u left because I begged you to put a condom on and not put it in my ass, and u didn’t listen,” the woman said.

“I don’t care what our history is, no means no shannon.”

The complaint alleges that Sharpe recorded their sexual activities, something without her knowledge, and that he was sharing the videos with others without her permission or knowledge.
