Rejoice, Seattle Seahawks fans. The rest of the postseason doesn’t have any of Seattle’s NFC West rivals.
The Los Angeles Rams did a considerably better job against Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley than they did in their regular season meeting.
He still rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
An improvement from the 255 yards given up in Inglewood back in November.
And yet, the Philadelphia Eagles had to hang on late and make a red zone stand to deny the Rams what would’ve been an unreal comeback. Down 28-15, the Rams scored a touchdown on a pass to former Seattle Seahawks tight end Colby Parkinson, then forced a three-and-out and quickly found themselves deep in Eagles territory. Jalen Carter, who dominated the Rams all game, was somehow turned loose for a critical sack of Matthew Stafford. On 4th and long, it was desperation time and Stafford threw the “gotta have it” ball out of bounds.
The Eagles’ 28-22 win means they will rematch the Washington Commanders in Philadelphia for the NFC Championship. A valiant effort by the Rams comes up just short, and their season ends with a second loss in as many attempts against the Eagles.
Rookie edge rusher Jared Verse, who riled up Eagles fans with his open distaste for them, had two of the seven sacks on Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. He’s one hell of a player. The Eagles fans ultimately had the last laugh and got to sing “Fly, Eagles, Fly” as he walked off the field.
Unlike the last three seasons, there will be no NFC West involvement beyond the Divisional Round.
Thank you, Eagles!
