While they’re coming off a tough two-point loss to a division rival, the Seattle Seahawks have been one of the NFL’s best teams all season long. Though, it never hurts to make changes to the roster.
On Tuesday, Seahawks general manager John Schneider did just that. According to the Seahawks, Seattle has added wide receiver Brenden Rice to the practice squad.
Typically, practice squad additions don’t receive much public attention. This one is different because Rice is the son of legendary Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, who spent the final 11 games of his career with the Seahawks.
Rice, 23, was a seventh-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2024 NFL Draft. He appeared in three games with the Bolts last season, but he’s yet to catch a pass.
Playing in a pass-heavy offense, Rice should get more opportunities to not only see the field, but also make his first reception in Seattle. First things first, he needs to get promoted to the active roster, which could happen as soon as Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
