The NFL trade deadline has already spurred some action from several teams, but not the Seattle Seahawks. At least not yet anyway. Though, with Tuesday’s deadline approaching quickly, the Seahawks could be pondering some roster changes.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, several teams have called the Seahawks to gauge their interest in trading one-time Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen. Teams have also called on pass-rusher Boye Mafe. Yet, the Seahawks reportedly would prefer not to trade either one.

This isn’t the first time Woolen’s name has come up in trade discussions this season. He was previously the subject of trade rumors after he was reportedly in danger of losing his starting role on Mike Macdonald’s defense. Yet, Woolen never did lose his role with the first-string defense, and nothing came of the rumors, quite yet.

Woolen has started 52 of his 54 appearances with the Seahawks since they made him a fifth-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. After bursting out onto the scene with a six-interception rookie season, Woolen has compiled just five in the 37 games since. Perhaps a change of scenery can help him return to his ballhawking ways.

So far, Woolen has compiled 19 tackles and three pass deflections this season. But it’s possible he’ll have to build upon those numbers on another team this season.
