It’s no secret that Seattle Seahawks fans are some of the best and loudest in the NFL, and that Lumen Field is one of the toughest places to play in the entire league.

But sometimes fans can step over the line, which has caused problems for the organization in previous years.

The Seawhawks organization is doing everything it can to put a stop to that in 2025. In particular, the team announced that it will have undercover police officers dressed as opposing fans in the stands for all home games.

The Seahawks say they’ll have undercover law enforcement officers dressed in the opposing team’s jerseys at Lumen Field this season in an effort to police illegal and unruly behavior.

Seattle Seahawks Plan To Put Undercover Police In Stands For 2025 Home Games

Seattle put out a press release this week announcing the new plan. The team states that it hopes to “quickly detect guests violating the fan code of conduct.”

The release states that the move is hopes of cracking down on the following behavior:

  • Behavior that is unruly, disruptive or illegal in nature
  • Over-intoxication or other signs of alcohol or substance impairment
  • Offensive language or obscene gestures, to include use of such language or gestures concerning a person’s race, ethnicity, color, gender, religion, creed, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or natural origin; or to instigate, incite or encourage a confrontation or physical assault
  • Interference with the progress of the game (including throwing objects onto the field)
  • Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel
  • Verbal or physical harassment of home of opposing team fans
  • Smoking/vaping, tobacc or marijuana use on Lumen Field property
  • Solicitation or sale of any merchandise, tickets, food or beverage on Lumen Field property
  • Unauthorized entry into the field of play or other restricted areas, interfering with the progress of any game or event, attempting any physical contact with an event participant, and/or any other disorderly conduct deemed dangerous

While it may seem like an added boost to fan safety, not all fans are in favor of the move.

“Kind of ridiculous. I know NFL games get violent fans at times, but I can’t recall a single incident in Seattle,” one fan posted on X. “I go to games (plural) most years and have never seen anything worse than friendly banter What a waste of public resources – but the police state needs justification.”

“Why do we have cops enforcing the ‘fan code of conduct’ as though it were state law?” asked another.

Ultimately, it’ll be up to fans whether they’re comfortable with the added police presence. But it’s certainly something for those fans to be aware of if they hope to attend Seahawks games.
