The Los Angeles Rams pulled off a bombshell trade for Myles Garrett that has them being hailed Super Bowl favorites. Los Angeles is going all in on 2026 while Matthew Stafford is still playing at a high level. Rams fans have to be excited about the possibility of adding Aaron Donald back to their defense too.

Rams head coach Sean McVay addressed the rumors that Donald is considering a comeback during a recent interview.

“Aaron’s a guy that I stay really close in touch with and I know the respect that he has for Myles,” McVay said on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Sarah Barshop. “Talked to him about the opportunity to be able to bring him on board. If Aaron decides he wants to dust them off at the age of 35, I bet you he could still do it at a pretty high clip.”

The rumors started immediately after the Garrett trade, with NFL fans fantasizing about the two legendary defenders playing on the same unit. Those rumors intensified when Pat McAfee teased a comeback for Donald on Tuesday.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz added fuel to the fire. He reported that Donald is at least thinking about unretiring.

“I’m for sure flirting with the idea,” Donald said to Schultz in an alleged text message. “Helluva an opportunity with the Super Bowl in SoFi this year. If I can find the fire, it’s a possibility.”

The last time Donald played in the NFL was during the 2023 season. He logged 53 total tackles and eight sacks in 16 games played.

If Donald does return, the Rams will not be getting him back at this prime. But the fear factor of playing against both Donald and Garrett would certainly terrify opposing offenses.
