Sean McDermott and his Buffalo Bills are gearing up for the New England Patriots to come to town in Week 5.

The Bills will enter the matchup with a perfect 4-0 record while the Patriots come in at 2-2. It will be the first meeting between the division rivals during the 2025 season and should be a good litmus test for a young and improving Patriots team.

Ahead of the matchup, McDermott had a ton of praise for Drake Maye. The coach has only faced off against the promising quarterback once, but Maye continues to improve and looks like a future star.

“Very impressed,” McDermott said Wednesday, via Carlos A. Lopez. “There’s probably not much that he can’t do. He can throw it, he can run it, he can scramble. He’s off to a great start. I’m sure they feel good about him as an organization as well.”

As McDermott mentioned, Maye isn’t the easiest quarterback to prepare for because he can do a little bit of everything. So far in 2025, Maye has thrown for 988 yards with seven touchdowns and just two interceptions. The quarterback has also added 98 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.

In Maye’s first-and-only game against the Bills, in Week 16 of the 2024 season, Maye threw for 261 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. The Bills wound up getting a 24-21 home win, but it was an impressive performance for the then-rookie against a tough opponent.

In Week 5, Maye has a chance to really put himself and his team on the map. Knocking off the undefeated division favorites at their home would be a signature win and would firmly put the Patriots in the playoff conversation.

After this week, the Patriots have games against the Saints, Titans, and Browns next on the docket, so there’s a chance for the team to stack some wins here coming up.
