Seahawks Week 3 injury report: Zach Charbonnet, Devon Witherspoon still out
Field Gulls Field Gulls

The Seattle Seahawks had an unfortunately similar injury report on Thursday to the first report of the week.

Following the road trip and win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, a slew of new injuries on defense materialized out of thin air, as well as Zach Charbonnet with a foot.

Charbonnet, as well as Nick Emmanwori, Julian Love and Devon Witherspoon, sat out of practice for a consecutive day.

This is a particularly tricky week, as the Seahawks have the short week turnaround to face the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. My sense is that the upcoming divisional game against the Cardinals plays into the coaches’ decisions regarding Emmanwori and Witherspoon in particular.

The Charbonnet and Love designations are particularly disappointing. Love has been adept at wrecking havoc on less-experienced quarterbacks, devastating the likes of Kyler Murray or Jared Goff. His absence against the Spencer Rattler New Orleans Saints would be felt, particularly if either Emmanwori or Witherspoon don’t play as well.

Charbonnet’s continued foot injury might explain his lack of production against the Steelers. With such a heavy split between the backs this season, it’s likely we’d see at least a few George Holani carries if Charbonnet does not improve quickly.
