The stretch run has arrived and the Seattle Seahawks are getting healthy.

In recent weeks several members of the team have returned from injured reserve or, as in the case of rookie Rylie Mills, been activated from the nonfootball injury list.

The side effect of that is that the team has needed to create spots on the roster to accommodate the now-healthy players returning from injured reserve, and which has led to the waiving of several veterans, including Quinton Bohanna, Shaquill Griffin and Cam Akers.

Tuesday afternoon the Seahawks reportedly made a move to open up a roster spot, potentially in advance of another player returning from injured reserve ahead of the Thursday Night Football matchup against the division rival Rams.

D’Anthony Bell has played sparingly on defense for Seattle this season, but has been a key member of the special teams units, logging the third most special teams snaps for the Seahawks behind Brady Russell and Mike Morris.

By waiving Bell today the team will know whether he clears waivers well in advance of the game Thursday, giving them enough time to adjust in case he is not available to return to the practice squad.

As for who could fill that spot on the roster, Dareke Young has been practicing, and would seem likely to fill the void on special teams that was created by the waiving of Bell.
