Field Gulls Field Gulls

The Seattle Seahawks are back at home for a meeting with the slumping Minnesota Vikings, who are all but cooked in the NFC playoff picture at 4-7. As if that wasn’t enough, Sam Darnold’s former team won’t even be starting his successor, J.J. McCarthy, as the former Michigan quarterback is out with a concussion. Undrafted local hero Max Brosmer, a University of Minnesota alum, will make his first start against one of the NFL’s premier defenses and a team looking to get the NFC West title. No pressure, young man!

Anyway, Seahawks vs. Vikings is the only game at 1:05 pm PT on FOX. It’s a singleheader week, which means FOX is only showing one game on local affiliates, while CBS has the doubleheader headlined by the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers at 1:25 pm PT. 506 Sports has the color-coded maps out, and there’s a whole lot of blue throughout the country. While the Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers probably has top billing based on distribution to more major television markets, Seahawks vs. Vikings isn’t too far behind.

For the third time this season, Joe Davis and Greg Olsen are calling a Seahawks game. Seattle has lost the other two games this crew has called: Week 1 versus the San Francisco 49ers and Week 11 at the Los Angeles Rams. If the third time isn’t the charm with this broadcast crew, then maybe it’s their fault and Mike Macdonald should petition to have them stay as far away from Seahawks games as possible.
