Seahawks vs. Panthers: All you need to know for Week 17
Field Gulls Field Gulls

The Seattle Seahawks (12-3) are just two wins away (or a win and some help) from winning the NFC West for the first time since 2020. Their opponents, the Carolina Panthers, are a win and a Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss away from winning the NFC South for the first time since 2015, when they reached the Super Bowl. It’s a big showdown in Charlotte with a lot at stake for both teams, but the good news for the Panthers if they can’t be eliminated from playoff contention with a loss, whereas the Seahawks could lose top spot in the NFC West with defeat.

This will be the Seahawks’ first time facing off against Bryce Young, who was injured in 2023 as a rookie and was replaced by Andy Dalton. Young has improved noticeably from his early career struggles, but the Seahawks defense has also gone from one of the league’s worst when he entered the NFL to one of the league’s best. Meanwhile, the last time the Panthers beat the Seahawks was in 2022, when the Carolina quarterback was… Sam Darnold. A win for Sam would give him 13 victories as a starter in each of the past two seasons on two different teams, which has never happened before.
