Seahawks vs. 49ers 1st half game thread: A new era gets underway
Field Gulls Field Gulls

It’s finally here.

The Seattle Seahawks’ 50th season begins against the same team whom they played their first (preseason) game against: the San Francisco 49ers. Geno Smith is out and the new quarterback in town is Sam Darnold, who had his own career resurrection with the Minnesota Vikings last season. Darnold’s previous stop was with none other than the 49ers, when current Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak was also on the 49ers staff.

But today is not just about Darnold. It’s about a Seahawks defense poised to be an undisputed top 10 unit, if not better. It’s about a Seahawks offensive line that is young and looking to assert itself as different from past (read: bad) Seahawks o-lines. It’s about Mike Macdonald in his second season at the helm in Seattle and whether or not he can guide the team back into the playoffs after narrowly missing out last season.

And lastly, it’s about finally beating the damn 49ers at Lumen Field again.

FOX has the kickoff at 1:05 pm PT. Check your local listings.
