The wait continues for Seattle Seahawks safety Julian Love.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters prior to Wednesday’s Week 13 practice for the Minnesota Vikings game that Love will not be designated for return to practice, thereby ruling him out for this Sunday. It’ll be Love’s ninth missed game of the year, having only missed two games total in his first six seasons in the NFL.

Love was eligible to come off of injured reserve this week, having missed the minimum four games dating back to the win over the Washington Commanders. In his absence, Ty Okada has played well and even recorded his first career interception, but he’s also injured and did not practice on Wednesday. However, Okada’s oblique injury may not be serious as first thought.

“Day-by-day with Ty,” Macdonald said. “Not going to practice today. We’ll see tomorrow. Julian is still in the same process we’re talking about. So he’s not going to practice — he’s not going to practice this week. He’s not going to play.”

Love has been battling a hamstring injury virtually all year, having suffered a setback prior to the Commanders game. The hope is that he can return to practice next week for the Atlanta Falcons game.

In terms of safety depth outside of Coby Bryant and Nick Emmanwori, the Seahawks do have D’Anthony Bell on the active roster, as well as the return of veteran and multi-time Pro Bowl selection Quandre Diggs to the practice squad.
