Also, what will the Seahawks do with Drew Lock?

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

Let’s have some fun with this week’s Seahawks Reacts survey. We’ve only got two questions but they’re both about quarterbacks. The first one is entirely about Drew Lock while the other one is primarily about Jalen Milroe but indirectly is also about Sam Darnold.

Lock was brought back to Seattle on a two-year contract, with $2.25 million of his $5 million guaranteed. He was obviously signed before the Seahawks drafted Jalen Milroe, which makes things interesting. Most NFL teams only roster two quarterbacks and make the third QB a practice squad player who can get elevated to the active roster or dress as the emergency option in case QB1 and QB2 both leave the same game with injuries. Could we see Seattle change tendencies and roster all of Darnold, Lock, and Milroe? The question is what the Seahawks do with Lock: roster, trade, or cut? Keep in mind that cutting Lock saves the Seahawks a roster spot but definitely not much in the way of 2025 cap space. It gets a little more interesting in case Lock is traded, in which case they’ll save $1.75 million instead of $500k.

The other question is about how many games you think Milroe will start this year. Now I suppose there is nothing stopping the Seahawks from having Milroe line up for a designed run on the opening play of every week to have 17 starts under his belt, but I don’t want to get caught up in technicalities. For practical purposes, a “start” is Milroe playing from the first snap and for the majority or entirety of the game. If he starting any games this year? What about 1-4? 5-8? More than half the season? I don’t think it’s a hot take to suggest that if he’s starting multiple games and Sam Darnold isn’t injured, then Darnold isn’t a Seahawk in 2026. It might not be the worst thing in the world, of course, if you so believe Milroe is a superstar QB in the making and you want to see him get his reps in as early as possible against live NFL competition.
