Field Gulls
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seahawks fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
This is it. The NFC West and the number one seed are on the line this Saturday night in Santa Clara. Either the Seattle Seahawks or San Francisco 49ers will come away with home field advantage throughout the playoffs. If it’s the 49ers, the Super Bowl is in Santa Clara, so they could live the same dream the LA Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers did in recent seasons. If it’s the Seahawks, they’ve only ever made it to the Super Bowl as the top seed, and their only home playoff losses in franchise history have been in the wild card round.
This week’s Seahawks Reacts survey has the usual confidence polling, but that’s secondary to the main question. Who ya got? Will the Seahawks win or will the 49ers win? A tie is technically a win for Seattle, as that’s enough to get the division, but who the hell ever picks a tied game in American football?
The 49ers took Round 1 in Seattle on opening day. Last year the Seahawks memorably beat the 49ers on the road to end a three-year losing streak against them. Can they make it two years in a row of winning at Levi’s Stadium, and can Mike Macdonald make it three years between his time in Seattle and as defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens?
