Seahawks sign rookie DK Kaufman to replace Kenny McIntosh.
The Seattle Seahawks have officially placed running back, Kenny McIntosh on injured reserve after the third-year back suffered a reported torn ACL in last weekend’s practice. McIntosh played limited snaps last year, but in those limited opportunities he shined, averaging 5.5 yards on 31 carries, for 172 yards. McIntosh will look to bounce back in 2026.
To fill that empty roster spot, the Seahawks have signed rookie running back, DK Kaufman. Kaufman, who went undrafted out of NC State was a Seahawks minicamp tryout player. Kaufman interestingly played defensive back in college, having started out at Vanderbilt before transferring to Auburn, and later NC State. He will now make a position change to running back.
Kaufman will also likely factor into the return battle. Kaufman had 469 kick return yards, with an average of 31.3 yards per return last season for NC State.
Will Kaufman’s position flexibility help him make the roster? Of course, however, it is still a very long shot he makes the 53-man roster. Kaufman is likely competing for a practice squad spot. However, crazier things have happened. Just last year, Jalen Sundell, who was signed just days before training camp ended up making the 53-man roster and is now in competition for the starting right guard and center positions. Perhaps Kaufman can make a similar jump in the next few weeks.
