The Seattle Seahawks are currently gearing up for the 2026 NFL season, which is slated to get underway in under three months. The Seahawks are looking to defend their Super Bowl title from a year ago, which they won in resounding fashion over the New England Patriots.

One storyline for the Seahawks this offseason has been the health of running back Zach Charbonnet, who was injured during last year’s playoff run and has since undergone reconstructive knee surgery.

Recently, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald spoke on the star’s recovery process.

“If you’re going to guess what type of schedule Zach Charbonnet would be on, that’s the type of schedule he’s on,” Macdonald said, per Gregg Bell of The News Tribune. “Doing a great job. I know he has high expectations for himself. Look forward to see where it ends up.”

Macdonald was also asked if Charbonnet might be ready for Week 1 of the upcoming season.

“Everything’s possible, yeah,” said Macdonald.

Charbonnet has been taking part in mandatory minicamp this week and seems to be making good progress in his injury recovery.

The running game will be especially important for the Seahawks this year after they lost Kenneth Walker III in free agency. Walker III, who won the Super Bowl MVP award this past season for his performance against the New England Patriots, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this offseason.

If Charbonnet is indeed ready to go for the first week of the season, it would go a long way in helping Seattle hold down the fort in Walker’s absence.

In any case, the Seahawks are set to kick off their new season in early September at home with a rematch against the Patriots.
