No more red at Lumen Field, hopefully!
Last season got real weird for the Seattle Seahawks.
Though Seattle won 10 games under rookie head coach Mike Macdonald, something was noticeably absent from the Pacific Northwest.
Home field advantage was like a parking place on Pike Place on a Saturday in Summer - nonexistent.
Well, if there’s two things that may help to fix the home field woes, one is at least partially in control of the team administration.
The Seahawks Season Ticket department has made a recent attempt to aid in the peaceful transfer of power from one Seattle fan to the next, concerning home ticket re-sales.
That other element that certainly helps with home field energy is to have an elite defense, but Jim from Sales certainly can’t help with that.
This phenomenon has been an increasingly disturbing trend over the past two seasons in particular, culminating in a game against the Green Bay Packers in which players lamented the opposing volume in postgame press conferences.
Many fans may remember that Brian Nemhauser from Hawkblogger took it upon himself both to learn what exactly was going on, as well as create a public marketplace to attempt to keep tickets in-house.
The original post from the Seahawks ticket department includes three strides towards a more hostile 12s environment for opponents. They list transfer and donate as two of the first options they are willing to assist with, both options keeping tickets among Seattle fans.
Lastly, a new disclaimer that season ticket holders who primarily resell their tickets will have to give an account at the end of the year, and decisions may be made by the administration as to whether they will be allowed to retain status as a season ticket holder.
In my book, just run Nick Emmanwori out there and hold opposing offenses to 16 points per game, that will have the same effect.
But hey, let’s get the 12s out there in full force and keep those Packers and Niners fans outta here!
