The Seattle Seahawks are preparing for the 2026-27 season as defending Super Bowl champions. With the team waiting for training camp to begin in late July, the club announced some major changes to the front office.
Reports indicate that the Seahawks are promoting Willie Schneider and Matt Berry to assistant general manager positions under general manager John Schneider,” according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Both individuals are replacing Nolan Teasley and Trent Kirchner, who accepted roles with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. Willie Schneider is John’s nephew.
“The Seahawks are promoting Willie Schneider and Matt Berry to assistant general manager, sources tell NFL Network,” reported Tom Pelissero. “With Nolan Teasley and Trent Kirchner off to Minnesota after a second Super Bowl win, GM John Schneider rewards Berry, who interviewed for the Titans GM job last year, and his nephew Willie, a rising star.”
Willie Schneider is just 35 years old, and as Pelissero stated, is a rising star in NFL front offices. This is his first opportunity working as an assistant general manager for an organization, as he works alongside his uncle in Seattle.
As for Matt Berry, he has been working for the Seahawks for 19 of his 26 years in the league. Before accepting the assistant general manager position on Wednesday, Berry was working as Vice President of Player Acquisition for the organization.
With the front office squared away, the Seahawks can now fully focus on training camp. That will be when head coach Mike Macdonald will get a firm look at his roster for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.
