It’s roster churn season, and the Seahawks have added a new name to the competition on the defensive line.
The calendar has quickly reached the end of July, and for the Seattle Seahawks that means it is time for training camp.
Training camp means many things, including the optimism of fans hitting fever pitch, and teams churning through the fringes of the roster in hopes of finding a diamond in the rough.
To that end, on Tuesday the Seahawks announced that they had made a pair of transactions on the interior of the defensive line.
Added to the roster was undrafted free agent defensive tackle out of Louisville, Thor Griffith who began his college career at Harvard, where he recorded 132 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks in three seasons before transferring to Louisville. In his lone season as a member of the Louisville Cardinals he tallied 21 tackles, a half dozen tackles for loss and a trio of sacks, with the final sack of his career coming in the Sun Bowl as Louisville defeated the Washington Huskies 35-34.
To make room for Griffith the team waived nose tackle Justin Rogers, whose claim to fame during his time in Seattle the big free agent the Seahawks signed after waiving Noah Fant.
