Seahawks have longest odds to win the NFC West

Another fork in the road lays before us. The divergence of opinions concerning the Seattle Seahawks has created an opportunity. Do you believe?

Despite what looks to be an improved offensive line, and what objectively is a noteworthy defense, the betting odds are still woefully unimpressed with the Seahawks chances this year.

In fact! FanDuel Sportsbook has Seattle at the worst odds to win the NFC West. At +500, they find themselves behind every one of their rivals, even the Arizona Cardinals at +400.

It’s been a relatively quiet preseason for the Seahawks, whom compared to their NFC West rivals, is presumably a good thing. Not a word about contract disputes, and almost silent on the injury front. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers have both had injury losses, with the 49ers just being an absolute mess already before the season even starts.

Additionally, camp has turned out big positive energy regarding the rookies. Grey Zabel looks as first-roundy as it gets, while Elijah Arroyo and Tory Horton look like true difference-making playmakers.

So what to make of the low opinion? Clearly, preseason has done nothing to change the high-level view of the offensive changes this year. Geno Smith, DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett out, Sam Darnold, Klint Kubiak in. You’ve heard all this before.

We’ve got two weeks left before things get real. I’m thinking long and hard about all the negative prospects Vegas has about the Hawks. I’m convinced that Seattle will indeed be in the fight for the divisional title all season long.

So – do you see things any differently this year?

If it helps: FanDuel has selected the Seahawks for the high honor of being the best worst team. +500 is actually the best odds of any fourth-place team to win their division, for what it’s worth.
