A Seattle Seahawks fan took a big-time shot at Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Savage with a savage sign before Thursday night’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

To kick off the 2025 preseason, ex-Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith and longtime head coach Pete Carroll (in his first season with the Raiders) returned to Emerald City to face their old club at Lumen Field.

As Smith made his way onto the field from the visitors’ tunnel, he was given a warm reception by his old fanbase:

New #Raiders QB Geno Smith received a well-deserved ovation from #Seahawks’ fans in Seattle.

Aside from his play on the field, Smith contributed a ton toward local communities and will forever be a beloved figure in the PNW.

But Geno Smith wasn’t politely greeted by each Seahawks fan in the sections he ran through. As you can see below, one fan took a shot at him by sharing a sign reading, “Bigger bust – Geno or JaMarcus Russell?”

Awful: A Seahawks fan brought a sign to today’s preseason game ROASTING former QB Geno Smith.

In the offseason, the Seahawks traded Geno Smith to the Raiders for a third-round pick, reuniting him with Carroll. Smith then signed a two-year extension worth $75 million.

Geno Smith Shed The “Bust” Label As A Seahawk

Smith spent most of his career as a backup before emerging as a surprise star in 2022, after Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos. Smith earned back-to-back Pro Bowl nods in 2022 and 2023 and Comeback Player of the Year honors in the former.

Having thrown 71 touchdowns in three seasons as Seattle’s starter, the 2013 second-round pick proved that he isn’t a bust after all. On the flip side, Russell was the No. 1 pick in a star-studded 2007 NFL Draft…and lasted just three seasons in the NFL.
