Despite making it clear that his loyalty belongs to the Las Vegas Raiders, Maxx Crosby remains a popular name in trade rumors. The Dallas Cowboys reportedly showed interest in the defensive star, but nothing materialized.
Things haven’t changed in the middle of the 2025 playoffs. The Chicago Bears were mentioned as a potential landing spot for the defensive end ahead of their divisional round game against the Los Angeles Rams. The Seattle Seahawks were mentioned as a team with a potential interest in Crosby, who isn’t on the best of terms with the Raiders.
It seems that this is the best moment to try to lure him away from Allegiant Stadium. He took issue with the team after they decided to shut him down for the rest of the season ahead of Week 17.
The Seattle Seahawks reportedly intended to trade for Crosby before the 2025 season. ESPN’s Brady Henderson wrote on Jan. 14 that the NFC West team attempted to unlock negotiations with the Raiders by offering Geno Smith and DK Metcalf. Their attempts didn’t come to fruition.
“Las Vegas first made a run at Matthew Stafford, who had been given permission by the Rams to speak to other teams,” Henderson wrote. “When Stafford agreed to return to Los Angeles on a revised deal, the Raiders approached the Seahawks about Smith.
“Seattle’s plan was to offer Smith an extension, but in a free-flowing conversation at the combine, Schneider floated a potential trade that would have sent Smith and receiver DK Metcalf to Las Vegas in exchange for edge rusher Maxx Crosby, according to a source with knowledge of the conversation. The Raiders eventually shot the idea down and extended Crosby after the combine.”
The Raiders ultimately landed Smith via trade. He reunited with former coach Pete Carroll, while the Seahawks signed Sam Darnold to a $100.5 million deal. Metcalf then joined the Pittsburgh Steelers via trade.
