After a pair of injury shortened seasons, the start of training camp will be delayed for Nwosu in 2025.
In 2022 the Seattle Seahawks made an uncharacteristic splash in free agency, signing outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu to a two-year contract after he had spent the first four years of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The signing worked out extremely well initially, with Nwosu posting career highs in most major categories, including sacks, tackles, quarterback hits and forced fumbles, among others. That led the Seattle front office to sign a three-year contract extension ahead of the 2023 season, a move which preceded Nwosu missing more time in each of the past two years due to injury than he had missed in the prior five seasons combined.
After appearing in just six games in 2024, Nwosu restructured his contract this offseason, while also undergoing offseason knee surgery, and with injured members of the roster having reported for training camp Thursday, Nwosu has now landed on the physically unable to perform list.
No specifics were provided on what landed Nwosu on the PUP list, so it could be something as simple as having failed the dreaded conditioning test head coach Mike Macdonald imported to Seattle from the Baltimore Ravens. In any case, Nwosu is eligible to come off the PUP list at any time, as soon as he has passed a physical.
