After winning Super Bowl MVP honors in 2022 and concluding one of the greatest wide receiver seasons in NFL history, Cooper Kupp endured an avalanche of misfortune. He played in just 33 games across the next three seasons and watched his yards per reception decline significantly, causing many to wonder if No. 10 was nearing the end of an impressive NFL career. Speculation grew when the Los Angeles Rams released him in 2025. The Seattle Seahawks still believed in Kupp, however.
Following a productive first campaign in The Emerald City, which culminated with his second championship victory, the former Offensive Player of the Year could have enjoyed a perfect ending to the football-playing chapter of his life. He does not need a storybook moment, though. His joy comes from competing alongside his teammates and working toward a common goal. A $12.9 million base salary for the 2026-27 season is pretty enticing as well.
When the Seahawks crushed the Patriots in Super Bowl 60, Kupp did not even give a thought to retirement. “Never for a second,” the Yakima native and Eastern Washington alum told the media, per ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “I’m loving playing this game too much.”
Cooper Kupp, who turns 33 this month, was asked whether he thought about going out on top after the Seahawks’ Super Bowl win.
“Never for a second,” he said. “I’m loving playing this game too much.”

Cooper Kupp will turn 33 years old in mid-June, which is usually a flashing light for Father Time, but perhaps the man’s enthusiasm and commitment will be strong enough to delay the inevitable for a bit longer. He recorded 47 catches on 70 targets for 593 yards and two touchdowns in 16 regular season games for Seattle. He notched 13 receptions for 157 yards in the playoffs, while also scoring a TD in the NFC Championship against his former squad.
Kupp is hoping his passion for football will lead him to a third ring next February. Regardless of how the Seahawks’ 2026-27 campaign unfolds, it sounds like he will be grateful for having played a 10th NFL season.
