Seahawks continue roster churn ahead of training camp practice Thursday
Field Gulls Field Gulls

Thor Griffith’s stay with Seattle proved very brief, with the team replacing the defensive tackle with a defensive back.

On Tuesday the Seattle Seahawks made a swap on the interior of their defensive line, signing undrafted free agent defensive tackle out of Louisville Thor Griffith and waiving former Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Justin Rogers.

It turns out Griffith’s stay with the Seahawks was very brief, with the team announcing Thursday ahead of hitting the field for practice that they had waived Griffith. Taking Griffith’s place on the roster, though, is not another big body for the interior of the defensive line, with rookie defensive back Keydrain Calligan signed to fill the open spot.

Calligan went undrafted after finishing his college career by playing at Southeastern Louisiana during the 2024 season, and signed with the Houston Texans before being waived last week. During the 2023 season he played at Jackson State, breaking up three passes and hauling in an interception in ten games, after suiting up for the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

For those curious about his athleticism and how he compares to the rest of the defensive backs on the roster, here is his athletic profile and his RAS score from pre-draft testing.

And now it’s on to the field for Thursday practice.
