Seahawks bring in 3 safeties for tryouts

The Seattle Seahawks had a few safety tryouts in town earlier this week.

Tuesday’s NFL transactions listed the following as tryouts but (as of Wednesday afternoon) no signings:

  • Maxen Hook, Toledo
  • Ladarius Tennison, UCF
  • Julius Wood, Eastern Carolina

Hook was a three-time All-MAC First-Team defensive back out of four seasons at Toledo. The Philadelphia Eagles signed him as a UDFA rookie but waived him during final roster cuts. Tennison started Auburn, then transferred to Ole Miss, then finished up at UCF across five collegiate seasons. He was waived by the Indianapolis Colts back in August. Finally, Wood is the “veteran” of this trio by virtue of being a 2024 draft entrant. Wood started out with the Dallas Cowboys before getting claimed off waivers by the Titans, who didn’t have him for the final five games of the regular season due to a PED suspension. He was waived this past August after nine regular season appearances.

With D’Anthony Bell on the active roster, the only safety on the practice squad is Jerrick Reed II. Presumably these are more tryouts for the practice squad than to have an active roster spot. This is fairly minor news until further notice, but it’s still news any time there’s the possibility of a roster change.
