Field Gulls
The Seattle Seahawks have named their captains for their upcoming match-up against the Los Angeles Rams.
This week, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, safety Coby Bryant, linebacker Ernest Jones IV, and running back George Holani were given the captain honors. This is Jones’ third time being named captain, and the second time for Kupp and Bryant.
The biggest news out of this is that Jones’ game captain status means he will be active this Sunday. Jones’ game status has been in question after he injured his knee in Week 9 against the Washington Commanders. This injury kept him out of the week 10 game against the Arizona Cardinals, and has kept him limited in practice so far this week. This game against the Rams will also be a match-up for Jones against his old team in the Rams. Jones has indicated that “it’s personal between the Rams and Him.”
Speaking of playing against an old team, Cooper Kupp will also be facing his former team for the first time since leaving the Rams for the Seahawks this past off-season. Kupp, who won the wide receiver triple crown, along with Super Bowl MVP in the 2021 NFL Season with the Rams, called the Rams game, just “another football game.” It will be interesting to see if he keeps that same tune after the game, especially if Seattle comes out with the victory.
For Coby Bryant, the game captain status is also good news, and should indicate that he will be ready to play after not practicing for a non-injury related reason on Wednesday. George Holani earns his first game captain status after scoring his first NFL rushing touchdown of his career in Week 10 against the Cardinals. Holani will also be having a homecoming type of game as he will be playing less than an hour away (barring LA traffic) from his high school field when Seattle takes on the Rams in SoFi stadium.
