Field Gulls
The constant practice squad shuffling throughout the season continues once again. It was announced on Thursday that the Seattle Seahawks have signed center Doug Kramer to the practice squad.
The addition of Kramer comes after a workout earlier in the week. This addition makes sense as well as the Seahawks are suddenly thin at the center position, having placed starter Jalen Sundell on injured reserve ahead of Week 11. With Sundell missing at least the next three games, that leaves Olu Oluwatimi as the starter with either Christian Haynes (who may be playing left guard in place of injured Grey Zabel) or rookie Bryce Cabeldue as the backups. Federico Maranges is another center on the practice squad as part of the International Player Pathway, however the Seahawks will likely want to keep him on the practice squad to develop. This paves the way for the signing of Kramer, a sixth round pick by the Bears in 2022 who has played in 18 games over the past two seasons.
Myles Gaskin, the Washington native, was released to make room for Kramer. After the Seahawks added Velus Jones to the practice squad earlier in the week, Gaskin suddenly became expendable. Do not be surprised however if Gaskin makes his way back to Seattle in the near future.
