A Thursday Night Football game for the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16 means practice-squad elevations and other roster moves on a Thursday, rather than a Saturday. The Seahawks announced that they have activated wide receiver Dareke Young from injured reserve, as well as elevated running back Cam Akers and offensive tackle Amari Kight from the practice squad ahead of the prime time matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Young, who has been practicing with the team the past few weeks, has been out the past eight games with a quadriceps injury. Since the Seahawks waived safety D’Anthony Bell earlier in the week, no corresponding move was needed. Bell has since been signed back to the practice squad. This injured reserve elevation leaves the Seahawks with only one more to use in the regular season.

Speaking of the practice squad, Seattle also elevated Cam Akers and Amari Kight. Both elevations make sense as the Seahawks only have two running backs on the active roster (Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet), and with the offensive tackle depth taking a hit with Charles Cross’ hamstring injury forcing him to miss the game.

Akers’ Seahawks debut may also mean a little extra for him. Akers, the former Rams 2020 draft pick spent his first three seasons with the Rams before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings. He surely will like to get a little revenge against his former team in the form of a win. Kight, an undrafted rookie out of UCF will be playing in his second NFL game after a practice squad elevation earlier in the year against the Arizona Cardinals.
