Our long national nightmare is over, NFL fans. Scott Hanson revealed on Friday that he will be back behind the anchor desk of NFL RedZone this season.

100 days from now, when the 2025 NFL season kicks off, it will once again be Scott Hanson who brings us seven hours of commercial-free football. (At least we hope it is still commercial-free.)

“100 days from now = NFL RedZone,” Scott Hanson wrote in a post on X (Twitter) on Friday. “(& for those wondering: Yes, I *will* be there. We have A LOT of Touchdowns to watch together!) #NFLRedZone.”

This is good news because the last time we heard from Scott Hanson regarding his status with NFL RedZone all he could reveal was that negotiations were “ongoing.”

“Many people are speculating,” Hanson told Yahoo Sports. “There have been reports; some inaccurate, some semi-accurate, out there. All I can share with you is negotiations are ongoing. The NFL has told me they want me back. I certainly want to be back as host of RedZone. 16 seasons of what’s been called the greatest football show there is. We have to come to an agreement and we’re not there yet, but negotiations are ongoing and I’m very hopeful.”

On Friday, Front Office Sports confirmed that the 53-year-old will indeed be back for a 17th straight season with NFL RedZone and it will reportedly be a long-term deal. Terms of the deal were not mentioned in their report.

Hanson, whose contract with NFL Media expired after the 2024 NFL season, had already signed a new deal with NBC and Peacock to return as the host of their Olympics Gold Zone. His presence on the desk for the Gold Zone of the Paris Summer Olympics was so well-received that many were worried that NBCUniversal would sign him to an exclusive deal, preventing him from returning to NFL RedZone.

There was also concern that because ESPN is set to take over operations of NFL Media and RedZone in 2025 that they would want to bring their own talent to the show.

As it has reportedly turned out, Scott Hanson will be doing both the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics for Peacock in addition to his duties with NFL Media and the shift to ESPN running things won’t affect his status as host of RedZone.
