Only one team has reached out of to the Las Vegas Raiders about trading for potential Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver target Jakobi Meyers, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Schefter, in an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, said that just one team has reached out about the availability of Meyers, who requested a trade on Monday after talks broke down between him and the team on a contract extension.

Furthermore, Schefter said that the one team that did reached out, requested that the Raiders take on some of the $10.5 million owed Meyers this season. Schefter said that the Raiders would not be willing to do that, and reiterated that the team does not want to trade Meyers, despite signing free agent Amari Cooper hours after his trade request broke.

"My understanding is the Raiders had one team reach out to trade for Jakobi Meyers but they wanted them to pick up some of his salary..

The Raiders aren't willing to do that and they're not looking to deal him" ~ @AdamSchefter #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/j161QUcTMR

The Steelers could certainly use a player like Meyers, who was a 1,000-yard receiver for the Raiders in 2024, as a complement to DK Metcalf on the outside. But the Steelers have nearly $20 million in effective salary cap space, so it’s not clear if they would require the Raiders to take on salary to make a trade happen.

The Steelers have also been loathe to part with 2026 NFL Draft capital this offseason, and such a request would likely increase the trade price for Meyers — which seems like the opposite of what Steelers general manager Omar Khan would want.

A trading team would also have to consider Meyers’ salary demands as he enters the final season of his contract. The 28-year-old is coming off the best season of his career and seems set to cash in on those numbers. He averaged just over 800 yards per season from 2020-23, split between the Raiders and New England Patriots.

The Patriots are also reportedly interested in a reunion with Meyers and could have been the team to reach out, but the Patriots have the most available salary cap space in the entire NFL, so it’s unclear why they would demand the Raiders to eat salary to facilitate a deal.

While the 4 p.m. NFL trade deadline on Tuesday is an impetus for many of the deals that will be made around the league this week, that won’t be the case for Meyers, who is in no danger of being cut. His situation could linger until Week 1 or beyond.
