ESPN insider Adam Schefter believes free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers will sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers very soon.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and rest of the NFL continue to wait for free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers to make a decision on if and where he wants to play in 2025. But ESPN insider Adam Schefter believes that decision is coming very soon.

“My guess is he’s going to wind up [in Pittsburgh],” Schefter said on ESPN Milwaukee. “I think that we’ve heard Art Rooney, the team owner, say he expects Aaron Rodgers to sign there, and they have mandatory minicamp June 10th to the 12th, so I would think Rodgers is on the table here in the next week or so.”

That would be great news for the Steelers, who kick off their OTA offseason workouts next week. It remains to be seen if Rodgers would participate in them if he signs before then, but it would be beneficial to have him in the building, nonetheless.

Outside of a throwing session with wide receiver DK Metcalf earlier this offseason, Rodgers hasn’t had the chance to start building a rapport with any of Pittsburgh’s other playmakers.

Rodgers did reveal the reason for his delay on Wednesday.

“I’ve figured it out the last year when I’ve been in the weeds with these people who are close to me that have cancer,” Rodgers said on “The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast.”

That lines up with what the 41-year-old said on “The Pat McAfee Show” in April.

“I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention,” he said. “I have personal commitments I have made. I have a couple of people in my inner, inner circle who are battling some difficult stuff. So, I have a lot of things that are taking my attention.”

It’s unclear when Rodgers will feel comfortable focusing his time and effort away from his off-the-field issues, but the Steelers have remained patient with him thus far and will likely continue to be, even if he doesn’t sign in the next week.
