Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Wednesday.
Mike Tomlin said what we are all thinking; the New York Jets running attack will be a challenge. In his first presser of the year Tomlin made it clear that this is the number one task they have to address on Sunday. Given what occurred in the Wild-Card Game in January, it only makes sense to see what the defense can do. With no Derrick Harmon and Cam Heyward having practiced very little, I’m concerned. Guys like Yahya Black and Keeanu Benton will have to rise to the occasion. DL Coach Karl Dunbar will have to find a rotation that works early. I’ll have a lot more on this topic and others in our weekly game preview coming up this weekend.
The Steelers announced yesterday that there are some new features around Acrisure Stadium. Several of these are part of the preparation for the 2026 NFL Draft. There’s a 44 yard by 26 yard turf field outside the stadium along with a huge new video board along Art Rooney Avenue. Also added – or upgraded if you so choose – is the in stadium WiFi experience. With hundreds of thousands of fans coming in next spring they have to be ready electronically. These are a few of the many different things going on this year.

The Steelers and RB Jaylen Warren agreed to a new contract extension earlier this week. Consider that Warren was an undrafted free agent out of college. He’s been a tremendous addition to the offense they’ll need him desperately this season. And yes, he needs to hang on to the ball too but I’m guessing he knows that.
Veteran receiver Robert Woods was released this week by the Steelers. Woods had remained hopeful that he would be elevated from the Practice Squad to the active roster. When that didn’t happen he requested his release. The Steelers will often agree to do this especially when it comes to veteran players. As of now, I don’t believe the Steelers have made a corresponding move just yet. Woods had just one reception in the preseason.
Long-time Steelers’ fan resident of the UK Gordon is back with Steelers History this season. Each week, he will cover a moment the Steelers had with that week’s opponent from a time long ago. This week, it’s back to the 1970’s and a game at Shea Stadium against the Jets.
As the clock ticks down to the season opener, I have to believe that the Steelers will get something done for both Cam Heyward and Chris Boswell. Any scenario in which Heyward gets done and Bos doesn’t would...
