Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner has had enough of his name being slandered.
Last month, the standout cornerback was saved from the trenches of hell via a trade. The New York Jets shocked the NFL world by trading Sauce to the Indianapolis Colts. They had the best record in the entire league at the time. The Colts were all in as they traded two first-round picks in the deal. They also sent wide receiver Adonai Mitchell to the Jets for Gardner.
Indianapolis was coming off a loss to the Steelers, which dropped them to 7-2. Nobody had a clue what was to come for the remainder of the season. Sauce Gardner would prove to be the unluckiest player of all time.
By early December, Colts QB Daniel Jones’ 2025 season would be over after suffering an Achilles injury. During that time, the team had already lost a few games in a row. Their lead in the AFC South was dwindling. Days before that, Gardner suffered an injury of his own. Gardner suffered a calf strain.
After being traded, the Indianapolis Colts would win an overtime game against the Falcons. Sauce Gardner did not play in that game. In every game that he has played for the team, they have lost.
The Colts have lost six games in a row. It has dropped them from first place in the AFC South to third place. They are officially eliminated from playoff contention.
Gardner saw the narrative about him on social media. Many fans are labeling him a “loser.” Sauce took to X to defend himself in a since-deleted tweet.
“i’ll go ahead and say the real since nobody else will because its…..me 😂🤷🏾♂️ i only have 32 targets 😕 there are 0 CB’s that only had 32 targets thru 600+ snaps. i only had 22 targets thru 7 games. I DO NOT GET TARGETED AS MUCH AS 99.8% OF OTHER CB’s in the league… and only like 50% of those got completed. 2 TD’s allowed (1 was a busted coverage.. both at the beginning of the year) ONLY 208 yards allowed all year… some WRs go for 100+ in one game.. am I missing something??
Also… (in my opinion), having a CB that take away half the field is equivalent to having a nice QB.”

It’s unclear if Sauce Gardner will be active in Week 18 against the Houston Texans. He aggravated a calf injury in Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars. The team is playing for nothing but pride.
Gardner signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the Jets prior to the season. Hopefully, the 2026 season is much better for him.
