Saturday Dawg Chow (1/25): New OC, same play caller, learning from dark moments, and more!

The latest Cleveland Browns news and notes from around the NFL in the Saturday Dawg Chow.

It was a huge week in the Cleveland Browns universe as head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that he will continue to call plays on offense this fall.

Finally, our long national nightmare is over!

Almost from the moment he was introduced to the media on January 14, 2020, Stefanski has been asked repeatedly and in as many variations as possible if he will call the plays when the Browns have the ball. (We checked and it was actually the second question of his introductory news conference!)

Through everything—the playoff appearances, the losses, the revolving door at the quarterback position—Stefanski has shown amazing patience in consistently answering that he is indeed the playcaller.

It even reached the point during this week’s press conference to announce Tommy Rees’s promotion to offensive coordinator that Stefanski proactively answered the question before it was even asked!

Hopefully, this puts that tired question to bed once and for all. (Hey, eternal hope has to be your default as a Browns fan, even if deep down you know nothing will ever change.)

Now that what was apparently the most pressing issue facing the Browns has been checked off the list, let’s roll into the weekend with today’s edition of the Saturday Dawg Chow.
