This could have some massive impacts on the draft.
The Senior Bowl is just a week away, and as always, this is a significant event for the New Orleans Saints. With the Senior Bowl being held in Mobile, Alabama, the Saints are the closest team to the event, which gives them an advantage. Unlike other teams, the Saints can send most of their staff/scouts to this event, and due to this, New Orleans values when a prospect participates in the Senior Bowl. Teams can also get an advantage if their staff members are chosen to coach. In this year’s Senior Bowl, the Saints have four staff members coaching position groups: Jahri Evans, Jordan Taylor, Adam Gristick, and Kevin Petry.
With Saints staff members able to coach position groups in the Senior Bowl, they can get first-hand experience with some of these prospects. This is an excellent opportunity for the Saints scouting department, and there are some great prospects on these rosters. Some that stand out are Elic Ayomanor and Jack Bech with the wide receivers, Josiah Stewart and David Walker with the edge rushers, Dillion Gabriel and Taylor Elgersma with the quarterbacks, and Emory and Armand Membou with the offensive line.
A player that sticks out for the first round is OT/G Armand Membou. His draft stock is all over the place in the first round right now, but with a great Senior Bowl performance, he can easily become a top 10 pick. Another fun player to watch out for is Taylor Elgersma. He is from a college in Canada, so he is an unknown, but Elgersma has real talent. His name will be one to watch throughout the draft process.
