The New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu has been named one of the 2025 Excellence in Mentoring Awards recipients by MENTOR, a national nonprofit organization focused in improving the quality and quantity of mentoring relationships. He is the second Saints player to receive this honor as former Saints WR Marques Colston was a recipient in 2023.

MENTOR’s Excellence in Mentoring Awards are an opportunity to recognize outstanding leadership and commitment to supporting youth through mentoring relationships! Presented annually during the National Mentoring Summit, the EIM Awards honor individuals and organizations that have made tremendous contributions to young people and the mentoring field.

Mathieu will receive the honor for Public Elevation which is given to an influencer who uses their public platform to support mentoring opportunities for youth.

Tyrann Mathieu, known as the “Honey Badger,” is one of the NFL’s most dynamic and accomplished safeties. A Super Bowl Champion and multi-time Pro Bowler, Mathieu’s exceptional on-field performance is matched by his impactful work off the field. As a two-time nominee for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, Tyrann is deeply committed to community service. Through the Tyrann Mathieu Foundation, he supports underprivileged youth, focusing on education, mentorship, and providing resources to those in need.
