Saints Rookie Impact Report: Week 17
Canal Street Chronicles Canal Street Chronicles

Let’s start the breakdown for the New Orleans Saints’ Sunday matchup against the Tennessee Titans!

OT Kelvin Banks

Against the New York Jets, Banks had an overall pretty good day, but there was a stretch of plays in which he got absolutely dominated. For the first time this season, he truly looked like a rookie, and he got beaten around 7 times in a row. The Titans do not have the best group of edge rushers, but Jidah Ward is 15th in QB hits this season, so he is going to be a player to watch all game.

QB Tyler Shough

This is going to be a very fun game. For the first time this season, Tyler Shough will be facing off against another one of the rookie QBs from his class. If you remember, New Orleans beat the Jaxson Dart-led New York Giants earlier in the season, but Spencer Rattler was the QB. This time around, Shough will be dueling off against Cam Ward. Quickly, Shough has risen in the ROTY odds, passing Ward, so if that award is still in the cards, Shough must have a good game.

S Jonas Sanker

Wow, Sanker had a great game in Week 16. He made a great interception, read the pass perfectly, was a sure tackler, and had an excellent pass deflection. This performance was very similar to how Sanker played when he became the starter earlier in the season. Against the Titans, Sanker may not be able to get another turnover, but he needs to stay solid in coverage. Similarly, keeping the tackling consistent is a must against Tennessee.

CB Quincy Riley

Similar to Sanker, Quincy Riley will need to stay strong in coverage. Ward can really pick apart a defense and make some high-level throws. This could be a game in which Riley struggles.
