New Orleans could be seeking its third coach at the position in as many seasons.

The New Orleans Saints may be heading into the 2025 season with their third RB coach in as many years, as Derrick Foster reportedly interviewed for the same role with the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday.

During the 2024 offseason, former Saints RB coach Joel Thomas decided it was best to part ways with the team after nine seasons, joining the New York Giants and prompting New Orleans to bring in Derrick Foster. Prior to joining the Saints, Foster spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he played a pivotal role in the development of former UDFA RB Austin Ekeler during his Pro Bowl stretch.

With a new head coach incoming, the staff was likely going to undergo a complete overhaul anyway. New Orleans has already lost OC Klint Kubiak to the Seattle Seahawks and granted permission for them to interview QB coach Andrew Janocko as well. Foster brought a unique approach to practice, so I’m curious to see who the Saints and their next head coach bring in to work with the ball carriers—especially with multiple RBs rumored to be on the Saints’ radar in the upcoming NFL Draft and with Kellen Moore (whose rushing attack is particularly intriguing) appearing to be in the driver’s seat as the next head coach of the black and gold.
