“Tyler Shough hasn’t been amazing, but he’s played well enough for the Saints to consider him as the possible starter in 2026. Even with an interception and limited passing success in Sunday’s win over Tampa, Shough dealt well with heavy pressure and made big plays with his legs on his first two career rushing TDs. The rookie has looked pretty composed in leading two Saints victories in his five starts, and the Saints might have a chance to finish with five or six total Ws. It might be foolish at this moment to simply hand Shough the starting job next year. But this feels a little different than, say, when Desmond Ridder — another former Day 2 pick — finished his rookie season with a solid four-game opportunity for the 2022 Falcons, winning a few games down the stretch and needing only to beat out Taylor Heinicke for the starting job in Atlanta the next season.“
“Rookie QB Tyler Shough wasn’t great, but he found a way to get the biggest win of his career so far. They’re 2-2 in their past four with an easy ending slate once they get through Carolina on Sunday at home.“
“A two-win Saints team waltzed into Raymond James Stadium and beat the first-place Buccaneers.
To be frank, rookie quarterback Tyler Shough probably isn’t the long-term answer under center in the Big Easy. But to his credit, the 26-year-old has improved as the season has worn on, and while his passing numbers against Tampa weren’t great, he scored twice on the ground.
The Saints are a bad team with multiple holes on both sides of the ball, but they are playing hard under first-year head coach Kellen Moore, and with just one game left against a team with a winning record, the Saints could get hot down the stretch.
Shough’s late-season surge might end up hurting New Orleans’ draft position in 2026. – Davenport”
“Tyler Shough has shown some good things the past month. Maybe they’ve found their guy.”
“While I thought that the elements conspired to make this a winnable game for New Orleans, Tyler Shough was impressive on the ground—and is possibly inching his way toward being considered the best (statistical) quarterback of the 2025 draft class so far? ”
