New Orleans hires their next QBs and RBs coach.

The New Orleans Saints have hired Scott Tolzien as their quarterbacks coach and Joel Thomas as their running backs coach.

Tolzien is a former undrafted NFL quarterback and spent time with the San Diego Chargers, San Francisco, and Indianapolis Colts. After a brief stint with the Birmingham Iron in the AFF, Tolzien joined Mike McCarthy’s coaching staff in 2020 with now Saints head coach Kellen Moore. Moore and Tolzien were part of the Dallas coaching staff from 2020 to 2023.

Hiring the new Saints quarterbacks coach is a key addition with New Orleans likely to begin developing a young quarterback in Spencer Rattler or through the draft.

Thomas was the running backs coach for New Orleans from 2015 to 2023 before joining the New York Giants in 2024. Thomas served as the offensive coordinator for the Senior Bowl earlier in February. From the span of 2015 to 2018 the Saints led the league in rushing touchdowns under Thomas.
