The New Orleans Saints are at the beginning of a rebuild, and although the record shows a 1-5 start, there are many aspects of the team to feel good about. One of these is QB Spencer Rattler, who has outperformed expectations. When head coach Kellen Moore was named the starter over QB Tyler Shough, many did not expect much from Rattler, and much of the focus was instead on the rookie. Now, when looking at Rattler’s 2025 performances, it’s clear to see the young QB has developed and continues to improve. Again, the Saints only have 1 victory this season, but Spencer Rattler has been playing winning football, and Saints legend Marques Colston agrees in his interview with DJ Siddiqi of RG.org:
“Spencer really didn’t get an opportunity to show what he had, show what he could do with a starting unit,” says Colston. “He’s played pretty well over these first handful of weeks, and it hasn’t necessarily showed up in the win column, but he’s playing winning football. It sounds funny, but the No. 1 objective in winning is, don’t lose, right? He’s not turning the ball over, he’s making good decisions. Sometimes the decision is, get to fourth down and punt. He’s playing winning football, and I think he’ll just continue to build momentum. He’ll continue to build confidence. As he builds confidence, the guys around him will continue to make plays.”

As Colston mentioned, Rattler is doing the correct things to win these games. Hopefully, with some more of these performances, the New Orleans Saints can get back into the win column.
