On Monday, December 22nd, New Orleans Saints LB Demario Davis and his family made a very special visit to children at the Ochsner’s Children’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Unit to spread some love and Christmas cheer.
The Saints’ Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee visited with several children and their families, handing out Christmas gifts, taking pictures, signing autographs and offering some positive words of encouragement.
While this was just one of the acts of kindness that Davis does for the community all year, this one is more personal, as it was inspired by his daughter, Carly-Faith was diagnosed with retinoblastoma at just 6 months old.
Davis said it’s important to give back and spread some Christmas cheer especially this time of year because he understands what these children and their families are going through because of his family’s own experience. “We can show up and help these families in this challenging time and that’s what we have been able to do, and we’re blessed to be able to do that.”
