The New Orleans Saints requested and were granted permission to interview New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for their vacant head coaching position in early January.

On Tuesday, the Saints will fly in and host Kafka for his second interview with the team.

The 37-year-old Kafka joined the Giants in 2022 after five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was originally given the role of offensive play-caller but head coach Brian Daboll seized those responsibilities this past season to disastrous results.

Despite his many reasons to gripe, Kafka has remained professional and publicly said all the right things.

“I know you guys had some questions to Dabes about like my future and all that stuff. So, I just wanted to address it really quick,” he told reporters last week. “Obviously, I love being here and I love working for Dabes and everybody. My only focus really is just on Philadelphia, the coaches, the players, and getting ready to play a great game and build on what we did last week.”

In addition to the Saints, Kafka has also interviewed with the Chicago Bears during this cycle.

Kafka is under contract for one more season with the Giants but would undoubtedly leave East Rutherford a leading role elsewhere.
