Getting to know some potential draft candidates
The NFL Draft process involves getting to know prospects and determining whether they fit a team's needs. This is arguably more important than just seeing what the team needs or whether the player has potential/talent, and it is always crucial to know which teams meet with which prospects. The Saints have already held some meetings/dinners with groups of prospects, and last night, per Nick Underhill, the New Orleans Saints continued this by hosting a dinner for a group of Georgia prospects.
Doing their due diligence is always a good thing, and three Georgia prospects could be the Saints’ selection in the first round. S Malaki Starks and ED Mykel Williams should be available at 9, but OLB/LB Jalon Walker may be gone by the Saints’ selection. Safety is no longer that big of a need so that might remove Starks, and I think New Orleans should probably stay away from drafting Williams. Mykel has amazing athleticism and strength, but with low production, this would be a risky selection for a franchise that can no matter what not miss in the first round.
